Summer is upon us and you know what that means: more time to train! We hope you’ll take your time to enjoy the warmth whether you’re on a hike in the mountains or laying out at the beach, but remember to drop in a few days a week to continue making progress on your goals! Consistency is key, so keep it up and let’s start the summer #RobotStrong! Stay up to date on special classes and Robot events by joining our meet up group. We have some seminars and activities in the works so make sure you stay informed! Jay Viola started off the month earning a brand new MMA title for the exclusive Night Fights promotion! Jay has made it a habit of taking fights on short notice. He is always in the gym, always eating right, and always in fight shape! True to form, after confirming only a couple of weeks before Jay took to the ring and triangled his opponent to bring another belt home to Robot! Jay’s consistency is an inspiration to everyone at Robot and each title he wins is a reminder that hard work pays off! Congratulations Jay!

Fresh off a training trip to Thailand after winning the Tournament to Bangkok, Lance “Hollywood” Dixon stepped into the ring for Glory Kickboxing. Lance arrived ready to put on a show on one of the biggest cards that we’ve ever been a part of. A number of high profile fighters were slated to fight. Simon Marcus defended his middleweight world title and home town fighter Joe Schilling dropped a hard fight to Jason Wilnis on a unanimous decision. Despite the big names in Citizens Bank Arena, Lance stole the show earning the “W” with a split decision! “Hollywood” always puts on a great performance and it makes us especially proud to see him conquer tougher and tougher opponents with poise and precision. Great job Lance! We’re looking forward to the next one!

A really sleepy suburban town: Canyon Lake, CA.

2. How long have you been training with us?

A year and a half

3. What got you started?

Working in East LA and eating too many tacos whilst there.

4. What is your favorite part of training at Robot?

It’s all the awesome parts about school without grades or cliques.

5. What are some of your training goals, have you made progress on them?

Doing a hundred kicks on each leg without having an asthma attack. Sometimes there is progress…

6. If you could dive into a pool of any food item what would it be?

Steamed bao/dumplings!!!!!!!

7. Any helpful tips on staying motivated?

Being self-aware/counterbalancing gluttony.

8. If you could have any one superpower that only activated when you trained, what would it be and why?

Be Mr. Fantastic!! Super bendy long extendable arms, great reach in Muay Thai and wrap my opponents up in BJJ like a snake and never get arm barred again!! :O

9. Tell us a little about yourself, anything you’d like to share with the gym, a question you’d like to answer, hobbies, or general life advice you’d like to give?

I am not equipped to give any sound advice and definitely have no answers to any questions, but hmm I do love martial arts, comic books, tacos, baking, social justice, and painting/illustrating.

Domo Returns to the Cage!


Saturday June 18th Leo “Domo” Imai returns to the cage at The Novo at LA Live to fight for the vacant University of MMA featherweight belt. Tickets are available at the front desk!
