As we all know Thanksgiving is right around the corner and so is the time of year when everything delicious is thrown in our faces. I enjoy the holidays just as much as any other American, but one thing I’m not so fond of is the weight gain that accompanies the holidays. The purpose of today’s newsletter is to arm you with some good ways to help keep weight gain to a minimum on thanksgiving.
On Thanksgiving fast until the afternoon. This means that once you eat dinner the night before do not eat until the following afternoon. This should end up being a period of 16 hours without the consumption of food. The benefits of intermittent fasting are numerous and can help benefit natural growth hormone pulse secretion, improve insulin sensitivity, spur neurogenesis, burn fat, and restore health to the gut, and liver.So get your Fast on!
2. Hard ass workout
Whether you want to come in and roll for 2 hours, hit pads and spar, and or join Coach O for one of his terrible workouts, the choice is yours. Just make sure that you do something HARD to make even more room for the awesomeness to come later in the day. The more you do, the more you can eat with no consequences. You want to prime your body so that it can use those calories as fuel to build muscle!
3. Post workout protein consumption
Consuming a good protein post exercise will further help elevate you metabolism and increase protein synthesis (your bodies ability to build muscle). A protein shake should be all you need to fill you up until the feast and make sure that your body continues to keep burning calories at an accelerated rate.
4. Eat to you hearts content
Just remember to enjoy yourself on thanksgiving and don’t beat yourself up for one day of indulgence. Any weight you put on during this one day of gluttony will easily come off the following week if you stick to your workouts and stay consistent. Just remember to get back in the gym and get back to your regular diet.
